Wiilman Noongar Country

Narrogin, WA

As part of our strategy to engage and support communities across the country to take practical action to restore their local environment, we have been partnering with Activate Tree Planting (ATP). ATP is a volunteer-based organisation that hosts family-friendly tree planting parties across the WA Wheatbelt. They create unique events that combine music, art, and local culture, connecting rural and urban communities and repairing degraded agricultural land.

In 2021 we funded 40,000 native seedlings for ATP’s planting event in Narrogin. These seedlings were hand-planted by more than 150 volunteers across a farm property close to the Arthur River Lake system. The owner of the property is a local farmer who is concerned about the impact extensive clearing has had on the land. The aim of the planting is to restore the health of the land and to create ecological corridors that connect to the remnant bushland areas adjacent to the property.

In 2022, we funded a further 56,000 salt-tolerant seedlings which were planted in creek buffer areas and valley flats on the same property.
