The challenge
The founders of CarbonInvoice wanted to empower SMEs to take simple yet effective action on GHG emissions and help SMEs overcome the perceived barriers of (1) they think it’s too hard or (2) they think there’s no payoff. CarbonInvoice set out to dispel these barriers, to bring SME’s onboard with climate action. They developed software that integrates with accounting data to track GHG emissions in minutes, with no spreadsheets or consultants. They also wanted to facilitate long-term, measured environmental gains in local biodiversity and carbon reduction.

CarbonInvoice sought out local partnerships with Trees that Count (NZ) and Regenerate Australia, allowing their clients to engage directly with local tree-planting projects to provide tangible environmental improvements across both countries. The team at CarbonInvoice and their clients aim to build a Positive Business community through their Positive Business Certification, which achieves a business ROI, inspires other businesses to take action, and supports local nature-based solutions.
The impact
CarbonInvoice is a true example of how partnering with local charity partners like Regenerate Australia to support reforestation projects any business can make a positive difference. CarbonInvoice is currently the number one sustainability app in Xero’s App Store, and hundreds of businesses have joined its Business Positive Program.
