It’s hard to believe that Australia ranks 9th among the world’s worst land clearers. According to WWF, it is the only developed country on the global list of deforestation hotspots.
Between 2001 and 2022, over 9 million hectares of tree cover were lost – an area larger than Tasmania. This destruction, driven primarily by grazing for cattle, places immense pressure on our ecosystems and biodiversity.
