Enjo

"We looked both far and near to find an organisation with who we were comfortable to work and whose values align with ours. It was also important for us to be affiliated with a company that does all its work here in Australia. We wanted to know what was going to happen with our contribution toward planting trees and to see how well they will be nurtured until they have taken literally taken roots. It was not about looking for the cheapest way of planting trees, but for the most value-added to our Australian environment. "

Enjo Australia has been supporting us for the last 18 months by donating part of the proceeds to our planting projects, raising enough to support the planting of 9000 trees. We would like to say thank you to all the staff and representatives that supported this initiative.

CEO Barb De Corti shared her story with us, which started with her wanting to improve her own home environment 25 years ago.

“After 26 years of ENJO, I still sometimes have to pinch myself on how fortunate I was to find this wonderful product. A lot has changed since I started the business when I was a young woman. My purpose was to improve the health of my son, Mark, who suffered from the chemicals in the home due to health reasons.

That led me to a product that simply changed my life and as his asthma got better, my passion for this product and purpose for ENJO continued to grow. Over the next 26 years, my passion evolved from the health benefits to something that is just as important- empowerment and opportunity – this is what drives me every day.

Having seen so many successful women over the past 26 years start, build, and succeed in their own business and on their own terms excites me. Furthermore, watching these women empower other women to do the same truly becomes the gift that keeps on giving. There is nothing more rewarding for me than seeing savvy women become independent and empowered to back themselves, the ENJO community, and the ENJO Brand.

The time for ENJO is becoming increasingly important, especially now that people are making smart buying choices to support the environment. Times are changing rapidly as Customers are becoming more discerning about the footprint of their purchasing choices. Sustainability means ethical and transparent production that is kind on our planet, all-the-while constantly re-evaluating how we can do better. We consciously pursue more sustainable and responsible ways of creating our already smart products. By doing so, we encourage our customers to choose a better future simply by making better buying choices. Customers look for brands with integrity, culture, and for a brand that stands for something.

We here at ENJO stand for everybody becoming a winner by choosing ENJO.”

Why is caring for the environment important to you?

I truly believe that we are only the custodians of the place we call earth, and we have a responsibility to leave it in a better state than when we found it. I was privileged to find a product to help me make this saying come to life. My passion for the environment and its inhabitants has created a purpose for me, and that is to make a lasting impact by educating people to make better choices for themselves and the environment.

What motivates you to support our work in particular?

This came about by a staff member who felt very strongly about offsetting our carbon footprint. We looked both far and near to find an organisation with who we were comfortable to work and whose values align with ours.

“None of us, including myself, ever do great things. However, we can all do small things with great love and together we can do something wonderful.”

Are there any other green initiatives that your organisation is working on?

For us, being green is not an initiative but rather is in our DNA. It’s a responsibility which we all feel very strongly about, and we are living it daily. We do lots of little things imperfectly perfect, which we know with certainty creates a huge impact. From how our products are made to where they end up, we consider our impact on the planet at every step. Our products are made from raw textiles are Oeko-Tex certified which means they have been independently tested and proven to be non-toxic and free of harmful substances. Solar energy is used to power our International and Australian operations and we like to put our waste to work and prevent old fibres from ending up in local landfills, by upcycling them into car seats and home insulation.

Do you have any environmental goals that you would like to achieve? If yes, how and by when?

We are working towards achieving 30% of all households in Australia being cleaned with ENJO Fibre products only by 2025, the impact on the environment will be beyond. If just one family chooses to clean with ENJO in 5 rooms of the home, they alone would eliminate 108 plastic bottles, 180 packs of paper towels, 72 Packs of disposable wipes and 258 sponges, 39 packs of dusting clothes and 35 packs of floor wipes from landfill in just 3 years. Imagine the impact 7.49 million Australians would have!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our supporters?

When I trained with Al Gore back in 2007, he said to all of us present, ‘We have everything we need to begin solving this crisis, with the possible exception of the political will to act.’
