Deforestation is pushing iconic Australian wildlife like koalas, malleefowls, and noisy scrub-birds to the brink of extinction. Over 2,000 native species are now threatened. Our ecosystems are collapsing and need urgent help. We must act now to restore these habitats before it’s too late.

Koalas are likely to be extinct by 2050.

Human activities like urban development, farming, and logging are rapidly destroying these habitats and climate change is making matters worse.

But there is hope.

You can help us bring Australia’s forests back to life by supporting our land restoration projects by planting native trees. Your support is critical in restoring habitat for endangered species to survive and thrive.

Restoring NSW forests for koalas

Our 33-hectare restoration project in Nimbin, on Widjabul Country(NSW), is part of a critical wildlife corridor linking two national parks. By planting native trees, we’re giving koalas safe passage to move between habitats, access food, and reduce fire risks by naturally clearing eucalyptus leaves.

Koalas are more than cute marsupials symbolic of Australia – they are key to maintaining healthy forests and even reducing the risk of bushfires. When they’re not sleeping, they’re eating – consuming up to 500mg of eucalyptus leaves per day (the size of a small lettuce!). This innate behaviour from koalas reduces the amount of leaves that fall on the ground, which consequently reduces the amount of biomass and risk of bushfire.

Help secure their future by restoring their homes. They desperately need more trees.

Providing a home for Carnaby’s black cockatoos in WA

In 2014, Carbon Positive Australia had a hand in assisting Kaarakin Conservation Centre in planting 38 hectares of the Banyowla Regional Park (WA). This project focussed on native plant species that are known to be essential to the feeding, breeding, and roosting cycles of three endangered cockatoo species: Carnaby’s, Baudin’s and Forest Red Tail Cokatoos.

Plus, after our biodiversity restoration work, this old orchard and grazing property also formed an important carbon sink, which absorbs more carbon than what’s released – offering a long-term solution to climate change.

Why take climate action with Carbon Positive Australia?

We collect native seeds onsite and plant them in their natural habitat. We also select native seedlings from local nurseries that are suited to each planting site.

As a non-profit, everything we do is focused on restoring the health of trees, wildlife, and our planet.

We offer educational tools for individuals and businesses of any size looking to reduce their environmental footprint and take climate action.

We restore ecosystems by planting native trees, increasing biodiversity and soil health, and drawing down CO2.

We collaborate with First Nations, local communities, and like-minded organisations to sow the seeds for a better future.

About our native restoration projects

Among the over 2,000 species facing extinction, our reforestation projects directly support the restoration of critical habitats for both native flora and fauna. Explore the impact of your donations by learning more about the projects you’re helping to fund.
